I call her Penelope. She is, as the picture portrays, a pink "pro racer". There is no indication anywhere about where she comes from but after hours of research and a little consultation apparently she may have been built by DHC - Deale & Huth Cycles. I hope this means I qualify for this competition as it would mean the world if I could ride her for Eroica SA.

This is my favourite South African steel frame built by the master himself. There is a bit of a story behind how I got my hands on it. The young man who owned it traveled to the USA and ran a bit low on cash so he called his dad in Cape Town telling him to sell the bike and send him some travel money. post-51655-0-18053700-1488912405_thumb.jpg

A 1983-84 Alpina restored in metallic grey and fitted with one the most beautiful group sets ever produced - Shimano 600 Arabesque.

The bike has a nice touch of History with the front of the handle bars panto graphed with the words Alpina on the left hand side and Rapport Tour 83 - 84 on the right hand side. ( Rapport Tour TV4 team issue)

A very nice example of a bicycle manufactured in South African.????????

A vintage DHC known as " The Spirit of Basil Cohen" which completed the inaugural edition of the 140km L'Eroica event in Montague last year. The day glow yellow machine behaved impeccably all day with no mechanical incidents and no punctures, albeit the owner complaining about all the hills on the route for most of the day!

Hi, you are the lucky winner...

We love the paint job on this frame and it's amazing that it's in such good condition from the factory! Just remember those parts aren't fitting with Eroica rules.

Send an email to info@eroicasouthafrica.com to claim your place.

See you there, Stan and Dani, Organisers

I know it's too late to win the prize, but I've entered anyway.

My 1987 Le Jeune, with Shimano 600 Tri.

Just come back from a 65km ride on here, in 35 degree heat, getting her ready for Eroica, just need to change tyres, give her a clean and oil (like we used to) the chain and she's good to go, again.

That is one special Du Toit!

My late 70's South African made Lejeune photographed during Eroica last year. It's 531 tubing with a 600 Arabesque group and brooks leather saddle. I love this bike and named it Karoo Racer :)

A classic Barry! And a hard-working one at that.

I hope we'll see this spectacular DHC at Eroica again?
