MTB Front Wheel Bearing

My fairly new Scott MTB has developed slight play on the front wheel axle - wobble when bars held firm.

As kids we would tighten the "cones" is it a bearing that has bombed or in need of adjustment?

Thanks

Only way to ascertain is to strip and check. If sealed bearings play will be on the inner race. If cup and cones check for pitting on all surfaces and bearings. Cup and cone does need very slight play, check that once the wheel is back in the dropouts and tightened again. Be careful of the ' thread compression' phenomenon and make sure bearings are smooth once wheel is tightened.

As mentioned still new enough to take back to the BS and they will sort it out.

otherwise

1.is your through axle tightened enough.

2 are the little pinch nuts tight.. there are 2 of them like old traditional axils ..tighten the one and lock with the other.

3 could be bearing  ...easy enough to replace around R80 per bearing
