Inanda Valley guided rides - Durban Green Corridor

Just got back from a guided ride down in the Inanda Valley with the Green Corridor chaps. I must say, I don't know when last I enjoyed a ride as much. You can contact them and ask for a ride of pretty much any distance up to 100km and they'll put it together for you. A lot of the riding is on established trails from the Freedom Ride and old Duzi Mfula track that they maintain. The views are mind blowing and the guides are excellent.

At R140 per rider for a guided ride, that's great value. It's a community centered initiative run by the Durban Municipality so could do with as much support as possible. It's probably also the reason it doesn't get promoted as much as it should.

So if you live in Durban or are ever visiting, this should really be at the top of your list in terms of local rides. Accessible from the Hillcrest or Durban North/Umhlanga side, it's worth the effort.

The trails are great at the moment. Looks like they're putting a lot of effort into keeping them clear and maintained. They just need more people down there riding them.

I don't think so. This was out away from the dam, up along the cliffs looking back over the dam. Some testy classic climbing but great routes.

They were talking about clearing the trail around the dam but they say they can't afford to clear too much trail if they aren't getting guys coming to the trail center and paying to ride it.

I was suggesting that they start promoting monthly guided outrides. Or even a 50km one week and a 100k another week in the month. They have strong guides who could lead rides of varying speeds to cater for different levels.

They could really create something special down there if they got more support from the now quite substantial Durban mountain biking community.
