Different Tyre SIzes

Hi

I just got a new 29 MTB and the tyre width on the front and back are different, the front is 225 and the back 195.

Two questions

  1. Why do the manufactures do it/what's the merit of it ?
  2. I am 100kg and feel concerned about the thinner back wheel, should I get a wider tyre for the back wheel, the frame does allow for it?

Thanks

Which bike did you get and what tyres did it come with?

just make pretty sure you frame allows for it. also remember, your wheels flex under load which might cause your tyre to rub against the frame if your gap isn't big enough. Your weight will also cause excessive flex. is it a dual suspension or hard tail?
