Max Rim Width for 2016 Anthem 27.5

Hi All

 

Looking at getting a new wheelset for the Anthem. Will 29mm outer rim width fit?

 

What is the widest rim that can be accommodated on the 2016 Anthem frame while leaving acceptable clearance?

Far wider than 29 external, that's for sure. 

 

One thing you must realise is that a wider rim does not make a tyre wider. It just squares off the knobs slightly, so they are sliiightly more proud of the casing at the most extreme edge. It widens the distance between the BEADS, which gives the tyre more lateral support. Not more overall width. 

 

So ja, your 29mm outer / 24mm inner (approx) rims will fit just fine. You could reliably go up to 35mm internal with no issues.

The tyre width is your limitation. Check on Giant website if they list it. 29mm Outer should be fine with a 2.5" wide tyre. Getting on the wide side with a 2.3" tyre.

yes. i25 all the way. And flows (29mm internal) if you can.

If you are taking the opportunity to go wider with new rims, don't get anything less than 25mm.

30mm odd is what you should be aiming at (like Myles suggests).

Pulled the trigger on i25's with Hope Pro 4's with 142x12mmØ thru axle conversion
