Fuji Transonic Build!

So here are some progress shots. Things are moving along nicely. We should be done pretty soon. We just ran into some hiccups. Need to get some tabs that go over the holes where the gear cables enter the frame. And it seems Shimano has beefed up the R8010 brakes compared to the 6810 direct mount brakes. The fattened arm is rubbing against the fairing that shields the caliper from the wind. This part I refer to as the ducktail as it kinda looks like a ducks tail.

Any one have any ideas about what we can do about this? My LBS will be contacting Shimano for whatever assistance they can provide in this matter. What I find odd is that the new 2018 transonic uses the new Dura Ace R9100 which the R8000 gets is genes from, yet in images of the bike there do not seem to be any compatibility issues regarding the brakes.

Anyways other then those two seemingly minor things. (bit irritated about the scratch from the brakes though) the build is going well.

And here she is! Although she isnt in fully completed guise yet. As I am riding her for a bit with my old Ksyriums on as training wheels. Can't wait to rip around on this machine. AND I get to race her at the Carnival City Macsteel this weekend. So yeah if you are racing. See you there!

PS. Ill break out the Nikon camera when I get home as I cant really do this bike justice with my phone.

At carnival city this weekend! Prime wheels are awesome! They feel that little bit faster than my ksyriums and the are pretty manageable when the wind is coming from the side.

I don't know what compelled me to do it. But I decided to weigh my tubes. 140g per tube. For off the shelf Kenda 700Cs. Which made me start looking at different tubes.

For my primes which will be used predominantly for racing only. I was looking at putting on Conti Supersonic tubes. What are the general concensus on the conti supersonics on SA roads?

Don't worry about the tubes, get smaller bottles. Look how much weight you carried unnecessary. ????

Awesome looking bike... congrats !!!

Just a quick one , I have a Rox 10 as well, looks like you have an out front mount, where did you find one as I’ve been looking for ages....

I have only just finished building this bike and I am already dreaming of my first upgrades for it. I really want to get DI2 for this bike. Don't get me wrong the mechanical shifting of R8000 is faultless. Especially with the polymer coated cables. But I keep drooling over Di2 parts.

Does it have a hidden compartment on the frame for the battery?

According. To Fuji there is a compartment for the battery in the seatpost from what I hear.

The only thing that is really bugging me about Di2 after drooling over parts again. Is like the extras needed. Junction boxes etc. Maybe I am happy with mechanical. ????

you know I have been wondering if there is a better way to carry bottles or fluids on this bike. I really don't like how the bottles mess with the aesthetic.

Finally broke out the Nikon. Got some nice-ish pics of the bike. The front profile really gives the impression that this bike should really slice through the wind with ease.

K I am done now I promise. The build is done now. I cant see any immediate ways of making the bike any better at the moment without spending oodles of money. I did have a Retul fitment done on it which is great. Need time to get accustomed to it though.

The OCD in me says that the Continental logo on the tyre should have been lined up with the Prime logo on the wheel....

Enjoy the ride.... is always great when you ride something you built yourself !!

Yes I do have an out front mount. My LBS ordered one from Omnico for me.

Thanks mate, will try and get one as well.

Did at first. But stopped caring after I wrecked a tube mounting the tires. The tires weren't easy to mount.
