Face Plant Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Hi guys I would like to find out if anybody knows of somebody that has actually been sanctioned by CSA for taking part in a non-sanctioned event.? Our provincial cycling body is sending out correspondence warning members to not take part in un-sanctioned events or face a fine or a ban. Now the interesting part is that this correspondence does not point out that UCI Rule 1.2.019 - Forbidden races only applies to holders of Full racing licenses. They send out a blanket statement saying license holders will be sanctioned if caught taking part. But it is clear that riders with general CSA membership are not affected by this ruling as per the extract below taken from the CSA website “Please note that the UCI rule 1.2.019 pertaining to Forbidden Races only applies to full racing license holders and not to those cyclists that hold a general Cycling South Africa membership. The full racing license is for cyclists from the age of 17-years-old who wish to be eligible for provincial and national selection and respective colours award” To my knowledge, breaches of articles 1.2.019 or 1.2.020 shall render the license holder liable to one month's suspension and a fine of CHF 50 to 100 and failure to pay will result in the further suspension of the license until the fine is paid. I would love to know if this is actually enforceable or what other actions CSA can take towards a Licensed rider? This is really relevant if you take the Argus into consideration surely the same rules would then apply to a race of this size or if it is a little community race that draws 100 riders?

What I am actually interested in is finding out if any riders have been sanctioned before and if so what was the sanction. I cannot find any reference to this anywhere thanks again for making the effort!!
