Hi All,

Hope you guys and girls had an awesome weekend.

Had the pleasure of riding after almost 20 years this weekend and wow, what a wonderful experience it was. Took me back to the days when life was not as complicated as it is now  :w00t: . Have now decided to get myself an MTB, something I could enjoy both on the road and off the road.

I have an offer waiting for me which I am really considering (waiting to rake up the cash) but being a noob, I dont have of the technical specs but it is a Raleigh Nomad, with disk brakes, shimano gears (7 on the right and 3 on left) and a computer (wired) for R2500. I have attached a pic which I sourced from this site and any feedback would be great based on the provided info.

Thanks in Advance

That is a Nomad 60. Should be 8 on the right and 3 on the left.

Great bike to start with!

Not sure what they go for now, but they went for 3K brand new when they were out (5-6 years ago)

Thanks for the info @lyslexic, the ride was absolutely smooth and the breaks seemed like the best thing since sliced bread compared to what we had back then

Did a general search for that specific bike and found nothing under R3K....

You won't go wrong with that bike. It's rock solid and easy to service yourself. Did a shock service last week on my old one. Was pretty simple.

I sold it to a friend of mine and now he keeps it as a 2nd bike and lends it to people that are interested in riding but are not sure they want to spend the money yet. I think out the 7 people, Only 1 did not go on to buy their own bike.

The equivalent today would be the old Axis 26" bikes.

If 3K is your budget, then buy it and enjoy it. :)

You won't find that specific bike new, they stopped making upper end Raleighs in 2011.

Hey, where are you based?

What's your height?

And......Budget?

Seriously important to get the right frame size.

That Nomad could be a decent deal assuming it's got hydraulic disc brakes and is the right size.

In JHB bud, height is +-1.7 and weight is 84.

I think it has cable brakes
