Installed Carbon Rigid Fork - MTB

Hi all

I need some help.

I am trying out something which I have been thinking about for a while and have gone ahead.

I have installed a carbon rigid fork onto my MTB.

Everything cut to size, compression plug inserted into carbon steerer and plastic ring race (came with the fork) inserted at the base.

I ensured my stem bolts were loose when tightening the top plug.

The top bolt was tension-ed to pull in to a point where the steerer was a little/tad tight. Nothing overly.

I then tightened the stem bolts.

When holding the front brake there is still play at the bottom of the fork/rocking (probably, i would imagine 2-3mm)

How do I eliminate this? What could be the problem?

Hi Trailwarrior

Make sure the ring race at the bottom fit the profile of the headset bearing and that there is clearance between the crown of the fork and the bottom of the bike frame. if you have clearance there it means the race bottoms out on the headset bearing that would insure no ''rocking"  unless you bottom headset bearing is fitter in the frame incorrectly.

Post pics if you can. It will help to see what the issue is immediately

I am suspecting my problem is the ring race. But will check it out. Thanks for the tip!
