What did you pay for it in 2011?

I will look for the invoice (I scanned it back then) tonight, but it was about R24k

What you can sell it now for. Probably closer to the bottom end of the range

Exactly, I don't see myself on the road again for the next 6 years, 3 kids (5 & 2 years and 8month baby), I know I know, should have rather kept cycling but no!

Maybe once they are much older, so MTB makes more sense. In a year or two...

you never cycled much but seems you spent a bit of time in the saddle

Jip I did, before I bought this bike I was addicted to cycling. About 6months after USSA 2010 my bike got stolen, I replaced it with this one and fell off the bus(bike) since.

As a side note: I got trampled at USSA. Not fun racing against the likes of Michael Pepper (think he was racing for house of paint at the time) & kie as a amateur cyclist.

I see he got banned the following year for illegal substances, so maybe I wasn't that bad...

I hear you... Its a road bike... Won't a MTB be better since you can ride with the kids when they older as well? Road not good when still young.

I must be honest, I do sometimes miss the cycling, but bloody hell, kids and work (with work taking most my time) keeps you busy! Hence another reason MTB is better, can spend some quality time with the family.

All I know now is that it's cash lying in the garage that can used for something else that needs attention.

Appreciate the advice.

We tried the familie  MTB thing - even bought a dual trailer so I could pull the snot noses along, but I recently told them that this is my thing - the cycling -and that I am not interested in anyone joining me.

Mom plays tennis and I cycle.    "Wifi"  said she wanted to cycle with me and I said NO - it cannot work because someone needs to stay at home to look after the kids and that there is no way that it wil ever work if we both cycle together.  She can go and play tennis and then I will stay home and look after the boys.   I also made it clear that when I get on the bike I look forward and TRAP in my zone and that I do not like cycling if I have to stop or slow down to wait for someone - sorry.

I mostly ride on the road with my MTB and then also join some offroad group rides with other dudes my age over weekends - and then we push it - so the ladies better stay at home or start their own group for cycling.  The family recreational cycling MTB thing with kids does not work for me.     If my boys get older and want to start to put in the miles then I will accommodate them and we can do it together, but for now it is me and my bike.

Ha! You need something for yourself. A little 'me time', or you'll go insane.

Hi all.

I have last been active on this forum 5years ago. Life got in the way of cycling, and still does. As Murphy would have it all this happened just after I bought a new bike after my previous ones got stolen:

https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/91804-Marin-Venezia-&-GT-Avalanche-1.0

Anyhow, as much as I would like to get back on the bike, the pink feet don't really care about my hobbies, plus I am also slapgat.

So this is just to say howzit and I might be selling my bike soon, but I thought to just check in first before just ramming onto the for sale section.

For those riding this weekend, ride safe, I will be jealously watching!

Regards,

Antoni
