Hi, I just joined and this forum seems to be a great place to get advice from knowledgeable riders.  I am looking at buying a mountain bike and have been looking around and gathering data for some time.  The advice from dealers seem to depend on which bike they wish to sell so an objective opinion is appreciated.  Taking my height, weight, budget, requirements, proposed use, level of fitness and neck fusion into consideration, I have narrowed my choice down to the Titan Calypso Cruz 27.5 or Trek Skye S Women's 29". Thanks!

Can you give links to the bikes, if you've found them online? So we can see their specs to give an opinion. And the quoted prices? Would help a lot.

Also, where have you ridden off-road so far, and how did you find it? So we can get a feel for what you like, and the type of riding you'll want to do.

Edit: Found them:

Titan Rogue Calypso Cruz 27.5:

Neck Fusion, go for second hand multi sus. if it is serious, if you are mainly gonna ride easy trails or road then its not necessary.

Can't go wrong on your first bike with those choices, just remember when buying a bike you will be subject to the N+1 formula from there on out.

Before last weekend I had not been on a bike for 35 years and bikes have changed so much since!  I live close to Cape Point and am looking at weekend cycling on jeep tracks in the area, mostly for fitness and scenery.

Hi Gerrie, excuse my ignorance but what is the N+1 formula?
