We were bike jacked at gun point. Our bikes and most of our kit were taken.

I only see the location now. I used to cycle past there a lot, usually alone. I still see loads of people cycle in the area

Don’t ever let okes in a shop or around the Braai bull**** you. In a real life dynamic situation, if you escalate by producing a gun, real or not, don’t expect the baddies to immediately throw up their hands and run away. You had better be prepared for the situation to go from dangerous to deadly immediately and be taking the initiative very very quickly. Statistically most gunfights happen within six feet, so you’re in a tough spot if your multiple assailants are not intimidated by your toy and decide to continue or escalate their attack.

 

If you are going to carry a gun, carry a gun, not a toy. Be prepared to invest the time in training, both in cqc, with concealment, speed of access and weapon retention being as important as the actual handling.

 

There are very few proper instructors in SA, but almost every male in sa seems to consider himself or his mate as experts, and believe their own nonsense.

 

You wouldn’t by a makro special, practice around the block once a year and then go and do an extreme downhill run against Greg Minnaar. Why would you do the equivalent with your safety?
