HELP needed with SS chain tensioner

Please help this noob...

I used to run a 34-15 setup on my GT Peace SS. Everything fitted perfectly - rode it without chain tensioner. (Chain got bit stretched lately, but was still good)

I got hold of a Black 36 Oval, and fitted that. Problem: chain now too short. Decided it was time for new chain anyway, but problem is now that with the extra links, the chain is too long.

So I have to get a chain tensioner.

Question is: what do I fit on this? There does not seem to be place for a derailleur hanger for the normal chain tensioners...

Please...?

You actually have a few options. Either to mount it on the chainstay or on the BB, so that they chain tensioner runs just behind the chainblade. Here's a few ideas:

Reason for going oval?

Perhaps go back to standard chainring?

I don't have problem with climbing, but not being able to keep up on flats is really annoying. So I thought the oval will help a bit with that...

Shorten the chain? I tried that, but then it's too tight.

Or is the oval making chain tension uneven? Not sure - it keeps slipping cause the chain is too loose.

Does those Peace frames not have eccentric bb's? Uhh... ????

Please post a picture of the bb area. I'm certain it's got one.

I knew it had one!

Do you know how it works? It's there to adjust chain tension.

Nope. Don't know... but I am starting to see...

So I can rotate the offset in the BB to tension the chain?

And I'm suspecting the oval is not going to work with the eccentric then?

And I'm suspecting the oval is not going to work with the eccentric then? I don't know. Doesn't seem so if I just think about it, but try it, maybe it does.

Thank you very much Vegmot. (Firstly - very sharp to thought that the Peace has that...)

Will try it. (but if I look at the scratch marks I think it's going to be a bastard to loosen/tighten)

This is where u need to look for the bolt to loosen the eccentric part (ignore the outboard crank bb bearings)

This is what is likely looks like inside with the wedge system to keep it in place... while you at it, normally a good idea to pull it out and give it a good clean - they are notorious for creaking!

What are all the other holes for?

Been a long while since I last rode an EBB... couldn't handle the creaking!

But from what I gather, it's to fit a tool like a set surclip pliers for leverage to rotate the EBB?
