HELP needed with SS chain tensioner

The oval works on a SS just fine.

When you set the chain tension make sure the chainring is in the upright position (hahaha) with the long sides at 12 and 6. That way it will be tensioned when at it's longest and a tad less tight when you rotate but it works a charm.

I have had an oval ring on various single speeds for years and never an issue

I thought that when the chain loses tension that it might be prone to dropping. But I stand corrected.

Out of interest, did you use a N/W chainblade? How tight did you make the chain? And what tensioning system did you have? Slide dropouts, EBB or a chain tensioner?

I have used ovals on my SIR9 with EBB, sliding dropouts on my Mercer and currently horizontal dropouts on my Blackmarket killswitch. If you tension the chain with the 'long' sides at 6 and 12 to it's usual 'no sag but no resistance when backpedalling' tension it will work perfectly.

I do know some chainrings have a more hectic 'ovality' than others, but the absolute black, rapide, lyne all work withing reasonable SS chain tension parameters
