Sorry, I can see how it sounded that way.

cool I should of known. The swat is cool though. Just pack everything in wrap up and away you go.

You just have to remember to remove it before washing the bike.

Stumpy Comp Carbon gets my vote. You'll have money to spare if you feel that you need a wider range cassette with a bigger chainring or buy a GX Eagle groupo before the bike leaves the shop and sell the GX11 speed in the classifieds. That new Revelation now has 35mm stanchions (baby Pike), and that trap door is freaking cool.

You ride a Trek though right? Just checking. Thanks for giving me some direction

I am struggling to convince myself on the revelation. I have one now, my suspension mix is more or less the same level now just not same travel and while great the S-Works (Ohlins - I know not fair) and the Trek setup was much more plush and also responsive. Replacing that revelation might be an option but costly! I'd rather take the Expert but that colour is bad...somebody needs to kick that designer...somewhere special

Correct, I have the Fuel EX 8 and I love it. The same spec as the 9.8 you're looking at minus the carbon frame and the slightly fancier wheelset.

If you're currently on a Camber, your Revelation would be the older 32mm which can actually be set up nice and plush with some air volume reducer tokens. This new one should be stiffer. Can't comment on the change in damping though.

Either way, the 2018 Fuel EX and the 2018 Stumpy will both be damn amazing bikes and both very capable. The Stumpy would be slightly more at home at an enduro race and the Fuel EX slightly more at home at an XC race. Perhaps that should be your deciding factor?

Yeah that last paragraph is about what it comes down to...good point. Both will be good for having fun though!

Any reason for dismissing the Following MB? I see it was on your list. That would be my first choice (if deciding with my heart, the Fuel EX if deciding with my head).

Looked at the same bikes as you, But when i saw my Trek in the flesh i knew she was the one.

Took it on a proper ride today on Table Mtn did the blockhouse contour stairs which is as steep and  technical as anything gets and it ate it up with such flair and control.  Then i decimated my pats track record after the ride which as anyone who has ridden pats is a rocky , off camber monster of a trail.

Fuel EX is one capable machine.  But im sure the others are also good, but not quite as good.

Is this boost thing something to be considered? Should it really come into play?

Boost is thing . And becoming more so. Even if you don’t like the 27.5 you can run the mid plus tyres with 29x2.6 which I must say sounds like the prefect balance.

Will be trying some soon hopefully. Nobby nic 2.6

Plus tyres are an absolute riot to ride . But there is a sacrifice in pedal efficiency for damn sure. But the bike becomes more like a bulldozer with the plus wheels and you don’t have to worry about a line like you do with the 9r . Not for everyone but the option to have both is really a draw card for me,although I never thought it would it .

Can't demo it...also a little worried about after sales service. You know what you getting with a Spez, Trek and Giant for example. Good back up in country, life time warranties. Oh and internal cable routing....

Perhaps if I could ride it I would buy it.

See now head and heart are a problem! Dammit. XC is head riding, trails riding is heart riding...or what?
