Which bike

See now head and heart are a problem! Dammit. XC is head riding, trails riding is heart riding...or what?

Then the Fuel EX would be my choice. Can cover both the XC and trails riding. I'm sure the Stumpy is great, but it just doesn't do it for me.

And yes, I think boost is a thing, especially for a 29er trail bike.

Should I try harder for an Evil? Or are my concerns legit? Statements correct?

Have you contacted Trail Tech? I think your concerns are legit, but not sure how true

Do it! That Following MB...

And I have an 810mm Funn Fatboy set of handlebars and a Funn Strippa stem in red, 45mm...that would look good on a gunmetal or black following. You okes are no freaking help...I can't buy them all....dammit

I can solve all your problems. Buy the 2018 Stumpy Expert and send it to Bogus for a full on custom paint job.

Any reason for dismissing the Following MB? I see it was on your list. That would be my first choice (if deciding with my heart, the Fuel EX if deciding with my head).

Can't demo it...also a little worried about after sales service. You know what you getting with a Spez, Trek and Giant for example. Good back up in country, life time warranties. Oh and internal cable routing....

Perhaps if I could ride it I would buy it.

Absolutely no back up issues with the evil brand. Trailtech are nothing short of brilliant in there warranties, back up and after sales service . Others could learn from them .

Thanks Keithbe. I must say I had pedal strikes on both bikes!

Suspension setup does play a role. Uneven trails do cause problems.

I'm considering 165mm crank arms. I've put on Spank Spoon flat pedals that are 90mm wide, normally flats are +100mm, to reduce pedal strikes but the striking is on the actual crank. Only an issue if pedalling through corners or trails that are worn down because of rain.

Rather just take the cranks out and replace with bmx pegs.
