Shimano rear brakes - glazed ?

It's a dirt problem ! From riding many KM on the road.

If it was a oil pressure problem it would not have been fixed when the LBS cleaned the pads with spray.

The problem comes from the road grime which is a mixture of oil, fuel residues and rubber from car tyres. Your chain is probably running black as well. Swopping the pads and cleaning the rotor will probably be a temporary fix but it could contaminate the front rotor as well. Rotors can be sandpapered to remove the glazing.

As a fellow Bellvillian, you can most likely get sorted out in an afternoon by oom Chris for less than 100 randelas it seems: https://www.cwcycles.co.za/parts/brake-pads-mtb

Went to Gego Cycles today to buy some other goodies.  At the till I asked for a set of Resin brake pads for Shimano XT.

Their STANDARD price is better than a 50% discount at the "big store" ....

No thanks.  Rather give the same low price every day !

Still will do the front to back disc swop as step ONE .... then the cleaning options .... going to be a nice experiment to figure out the cause and possible solutions.
