Bicycle street art.

In the town I live in I am amazed at the number of bikes which are just abandoned. Either locked up somewhere completely randomly or just ‘parked’. Some are fairly respectable with goodish components. There are loads of them in various states of decay. Whenever I go into London or mainland Europe there are thousands of these once proud beasts which look forlorn. Thought I would start a thread dedicated to these bikes.

The one is Boardman with 105 parts aN Ritchey bits, fizik saddle. Locked up on a main road aN been there 6 months left to rust. The other just parked against a tree.

I say, leave a note with your contact details on the railing, leave a note on your local version of the Bikehub, rescue the Boardman, fix what needs fixing.............. and ride it like you stole rescued it!

I know what you are talking about, and I have noticed those sadly abandoned bikes all over Europe as well.

Here is South Africa though, a bike doesn't stay in one place for very long if you leave it like that. It will be re-purposed, re-distributed, re-cycled before you know it. Sometimes people mistakenly think you have abandoned or are attempting to donate it when you lock it to a lamp post with a huge chain and lock for just a few minutes while you zip into the coffee shop to buy a much needed cup of wake-up.

In my neck of the rough woods, only a painting of a bike stays for long! This is the side wall of Woodstock Cycle Works, a local bike shop in cape town. Cool bike street art! (Yes, yes, I know the Colnago is a work of art too!)

I see a lot of it in the UK.

Lots of bikes that looked to be abandoned. Some were rust buckets others juat left temporarily.
