Is this something to worry about - Carbon Frame

So on my ride on Sunday a rock flicked up and hit my carbon frame pretty solidly on the seat tube. At first inspection I thought its only superficial but after washing it yesterday and inspecting it a bit better, it seems like it took out a piece of the top layer of carbon.

Is this something to have checked out, or do I just touch it up with clear nail polish and forget about it?

The bike in question is a specialized Epic Marathon 2015. The frame looks like raw carbon as you can see where the carbon layers end so its definitely not just a paint chip is there isn't any paint involved...

Ill have a feel this afternoon. Its quite difficult to get in there as it as where the seat stay attaches to the shock.

Wait until something else on the frame breaks properly, then have them both fixed one time.

I inspected the bike again this morning. The original spot as per the photo as still solid, so its not to deep into the carbon I think.

While inspecting the bike, I did check for other soft spots. There is a mark on my top tube where the handlebars will cross it when falling over. It fell over at W2W in the overnight bike park and left a nasty scratch there. When I checked that mark there was a definite soft spot in the carbon...

Now Im even more concerned

Seems superficial

I’ve got a chip from a rock on my MTB frame that’s similar

Looks paint deep, not too worry too much, unless the area feels soft as Martin suggested.

Doesn't sound like you have much to worry about.

I suggest that you maybe just keep record of the date and details of the incident. IF the frame cracks further, I would try and claim, but you will need to reference the event.

I love my carbon GT hardtail, after my last repair which cost an arm and a leg (almost). I'll wait until the frame is not rideable until I take it for the next batch of repairs. As long as it doesn't creak when you ride it, it's fine.
