HI

I am looking for a decent pair of ladies shorts for my GF

She has a pair of shorts but takes a few days to recover from cycling because of the pain and swelling

Does anyone know where i can get a decent pair of ladies shorts for a budget price.. IE; under R1000 as we cant afford the expensive ones

Most likely to be a saddle issue rather than shorts.

Most stock saddles are not anatomically suited for ladies

I agree with the previous comments. It's probably a saddle issue. We went through the same hassle and about 3 or 4 saddles before I got her happy. Wider and plusher is not always better. Took her for a bike fit and we swapped to a Specialized Ladies specific saddle and she is as happy as can be, or so I thought.

Which brings me back to the original question. We're now looking for ladies shorts, without breaking the bank. She started with First Ascent, which were okay, but the padding is now becoming soft and she's quite uncomfortable. She also has a Louis Garneu 3/4 short, but because of the length it gets quite hot out in summer time (and she feels she doesn't look as fashionable as the "real" cyclists).

So, ladies shorts for under a thousand bucks, is there even anything?

Speaking from experience, pls make sure that she is indeed wearing ladies shorts.  The padding between men and ladies shorts/bibs differ considerably and it can hurt you in some very uncomfortable places.

Recently saw some Watz ladies shorts at Cyclelab.  Maybe worth looking at.

In Cape Town - ladies Pearl Izumi shorts for under R900 at Chris Willemse Cycles. I'd love to wear Assos, but can't afford them! The Pearl Izumis are almost as comfortable.

On the saddle issue, if your wife does not have a ladies saddle, there's your issue! Mens' saddles are simply not designed for us.

https://www.cwcycles.co.za/apparel/shorts-woman - see Pearl Izumis for R850. Those are great.

First Ascent - available from Linden Cycles at around R700.

Make sure they fit nice and tight as badly fitting shorts mean they move around and don't provide the correct support.

Umm - why no mention of the Hub kit:

My reply before the picture loaded was going to be "because it's more than a thousand bucks". But it's not, so that's what we'll be going with!

Thanks!
