Cycle Junction Richards Bay

I went on holiday to Richards Bay on 26 December 2017 and upon arrival noticed my bicycle’s back wheel was losing pressure and leaking tubeless fluid at the spokes.  I immediately thought it was the rim tape that moved and started to look for the nearest cycling shop.

On the morning of 27 December 2017 I went to Cycle Junction (apparently the old Zululand Cycles) and was welcomed with open arms and a VERY friendly and helpful attitude.

Now I must tell you that I do not look like your typical race snake and has had my share of power trips and attitude issues from cycling shop staff as they probably think I am another noob that is going to waste their time with a request for perma-tubes for my tricycle.

These guys instantly started chatting as if I was a local and straight away had a look at my problem.  It turned out to be not just a simple fix as it wasn’t the rim tape but my rim that has cracked.

They offered me all the options they had and even looked to find a secondhand rim in stock as I didn’t want to spend a fortune on a rim that didn’t match my other rim (which they unfortunately didn’t have in stock).

Eventually they came up with an affordable solution and took it upon them to build the wheel the same day AND to wait for me after closing time as I had other meetings lined up that would cause me to be back only a half an hour after closing time.

They did all this with a smile and at a very good price.

They also took their time and exactly explained to me where to ride and not to ride, where to enter the plantations and where to stay away from etc.

It was really one of my better experiences ever in a cycling shop.

There are many of the bigger shops out there that can learn a load from them.

For the life of me I cannot remember the names of the two gentleman who helped me but a BIG thank you to you two.

If ever you find yourself in that valley - please do support them.  We need many more cycle shops and staff like that.

I had a similar experience with them in October last year. They went beyond the call of duty for two of us who were just visiting RB.

Awesome service.

Looks like "making a plan" is what they dont shy away from...and this they do by going out of their way to help in any way pow. I have also dealt with Bongani, part of mechanics team, it is like they were cut frim the same cloth. Helping is their culture because even when the shop was Zululand Cycles, they were like how they are now.

I am a local, and yes, they are great. Keep it gents!
