We are with outsurance, had 2 claims for bikes with no issues, first bike was stolen out of my previous yard, last year's claim was after a crash, they even paid for kit that wasn't specified with limits, R1500 for helmet and R1500 for shoes, R900 for bib.

You can actually hand them over to the insurance ombudsman for that, I worked in insurance for a few years and has taught me a few valuable things, the 1 most applicable to you as that the moment you contacted them to notify them of the update, the onus is 100% on them. The moment they informed you on that call that your policy will be updated, your bikes insured. You don't need an updated policy or anything. As they then did not update your policy they are liable for the payments not you as they failed to correctly update your policy and claim said premiums from you.

You did not even have to follow up, them inferring that it's your responsibility is ANC level bull****. By the time that call ended your bike was insured.

This is why I record all my calls, it's been very handy a few times, and while there are legal grey areas with general calls, that's a call center, the call is recorded on their side so your recording is equally as legal.

I'm with cycle-sure, never claimed so can't comment on their service.

Out of interest, has anybody got any experience with Discovery?

I had very a poor experience with discovery. I ended up repairing my bike at own cost and cancelled my insurance with them.

If I am to do a custom spray job to a frame, does my insurance cover become void?

Is it a case of making the insurers aware of it being sprayed?

Obviously no repairs or cracks to carbon it'll purely only be for a new look!

Anybody?

Doesn't (shouldn't) affect your cover. Could affect your warranty though if you have one in place

It shouldn't, but some less scrupulous insurance companies may use it as an excuse not to pay you out. Just contact them and let them know what your plans are.

Het guys, getting a new mtb and want to insure it for 25-30k.Tries outsurance R250 and Miway R300. Anyone used the king price R1 insurance?

Try Old Mutual Insure, for my 30k mtb  I pay R125.

Covered as an all risk item, meaning claim under any circumstance besides 'spupidity' .. as is don't leave your bike unattended where it could get stolen.

Recently claimed for my gopro and was settled within 3 days
