The way I see it is, if it cant be ridden up it is a downhill only track. I ride up the ST all the time in Tokai, it sure beats the boring slog up the dirt road. just because someone has a 20 kg downhill rig that they need to push up hills doesnt give them priority on the DH. In fact MTB convention is for DH to yield to uphill.

You also need a bit of common sense, if its a corker day and about 10 am on a saterday there will be so many people coming down the ST it probably isnt worth the hassle of riding up.

Will we do some single tracks on the way up and down? - DEFINITELY both

Up the singletrack to pi$$ off the guys coming down and then down the singletrack to moan at those coming upWinkLOLBig%20smile

That about sums it up. Well said! Clap

There really is no reason to swear and be abusive. Leave that for the World Funride Champs...

While their attitude sucked, it has to be said that there is one specific trail in Tokai that was built as a national DH course a few years back. We ride up that one every time as well but I can imagine that if you were on that specific trail they might be more inclined to get aggro.

Still doesn't justify it.

I'd like to see them try that on one of our grouprides. I can imagine it might get ugly.

Dannyboi, myself and Weekend Wan....oops, Weekend Warrior get passed by all and sundry at the moment, we are still building up the courage to do a MTB funride, anyway if we do Robertson I lose a case of beer.

There are supposed to be lots of toddlers doing robertson : D so Im sure you won't get passed by ALL and sundry. And if both of you do it then winning the case of beer will simply be postponed fo a week or so.

Well said!

It seems that it is the new comers to the sport who don't understand what mountain biking and common courtesy is all about.

A lot of the friendly vibe in mountain biking has been lost in the last 2 years with the massive growth in the sport.

Night riding stills seems to avoid the crowds for now...

Stress not, it happens to roadies as well. There are more than a few people at Suikerbos who are not to sure what no entry signs are!!
