A cyclist has been killed in a hit and run in Durban. The incident took place just after 6am yesterday on NMR Avenue. 56-year-old Allan Seagar died after being hit by what?s believed to be a White VW Polo?

He?d been out cycling with his friend, Mike Foley at the time.

Foley was riding in front of Seagar when his friend was struck, just near the paddocks - heading towards Athlone Bridge.

He says the driver sped off - leaving behind part of his Polo bumper and headlight.

He says Seagar - who worked for the Ports Authority - died on the roadside.

Foley told Newswatch he?s lost more than a cycling buddy; he?s lost his best friend.

?Allan was very friendly, very social?very kind. If he was your friend, he was a true friend.?

Police are trying to track down the driver of the Polo who hit Seagar.

Foley says he hopes the driver does the right thing, and turns himself in.

?I hope he comes forward and that he?s battling with his conscience and admits to the deed he?s done.?

come on car drivers, enough now, geees, when this going to stop !!!!Angry

Reporting himself in might be the right thing to do, but it wont change the past. These guys must just stop their **** and realize they are guiding a 1 ton missile around and start taking note of what they are doing. The problem is concentration. When we first learned to drive, we concentrated on driving and conversations etc, were in the back of our mind. We are now so used to driving, that we concentrate on all BUT the driving.

My condolences to the family and friends.
