Guys to all of you who have kids.....I have just seen the most heartwrenching sight....a little boy of about 5-6 under a carCryCry.....he was hit by a car and they could not get him out for quite a while.

PLEASE PLEASE make sure your kids now how to ride their bikes when they are out on the road...this happened in a very quiet area where nobody would expect something like this to happen...I was crying all the way home and I don't even have kids yet.  PLEASE HUBBERS.....make sure your kids are safe on their bikes and wearing helmets!!!!

Damn. That's very sad. Cry

My kids are not allowed to ride on the street. It's a shame, because we grew up riding bikes on the road, but then the roads were not 1/10th as busy as they are now.

If you are hit by a car then wearing a helmet is not gonna help very much. A cycling helmet will only really help if you hit the ground. It's not the same as a full-face motorcycle helmet (and even then a motorbike helmet is only useful to a point).

So sad! Cry

And the rest of you, wake up! It is a criminal act to speed. When you get in your car, remember some basic things. And if you do these already, tell everyone else!

the worst part of it was seeing that little body lying under the car and knowing that there is pain and being able to do nothing about it.  I don't even want to think what his parents are feeling. Unhappy

It's not a busy thing. It's a respect thing. I live on a corner, which is a three way stop, and the other day I went to cut this - painter call thomas whatever - sign off the stiop sign, and this woman hauls it round the corner without even hesitating. I don't keep quiet for much, so I shout, hey lady, it's a stop street. She stops, reverses down the middle of the road, and tells me: "there are no cars, you just go" I nearly focking died. Arrogant @rseholes like that are the cause.

And to qualify, I live on a quiet little lane, so few cars travel on it, the sand after the rains never gets moved by the traffic, and yet I still can't let my kids go on the street cause of imbeciles like that.

Learn some respect dumbasses! If not for everyone else, at least for yourself and your own property.

I have noticed more and more that many parents seem to think that kids in car seats or not as safe as when they are standing between the front seats.Angry

What really gets me, is that idiots like this woman will be all up in arms about the high crime rate in SA, all the while not caring and blatantly ignoring the fact that they are criminals themselves. Makes me mad!

OK....I have just spoken to the mother and it seems as if the little guy is going to be OK.  The doctor is very happy with him.  Just a broken arm.  Thank God he is otherwise OK.  Smile

Sorry, I really feel badly for the child mentioned in the first post. I have a 2 and a 6 year old, so for me even reading this causes huge pain. I just feel it appropriate to highlight the root causes of all these accidents. People seem to lose all sense of respect for self and others as soon as the get behind the wheel.

TNT1 - you are so right!  They become ruthless monsters!

glad to hear the little lad is ok, must have gotten the fright of his life!

hope he recovers quickly and moves onto "riding in the dirt" next time!
