Ascension Posted May 10, 2018 Share Merida. Better value and almost 1kg lighter. I think a 27.5 wheeled bike might suit you better. Manitou shocks are very good and its red! Marichen
Marichen Posted May 10, 2018 Share So have you bought the bike yet?Hi there, yes I decided on the Trek. But recently walked in a shop that is in a town near Worcester that wanted to sell me a Silverback Sola?? Don't know? Alhough they have amazing Silverback carbon dual suspension bikes, but unfortunately my budget doesn't allow R32000 Edited May 10, 2018 by Marichen Traveler
CASSIE1975 Posted May 10, 2018 Share Without a doubt Trek, and they stand by their lifetime warranty. Apart from Emily, do not forget Rachel Atherton.... After what I've recently heard about a Merida, I will not touch a new one with a barge pole. Always though they were value for money bikes, but now I do not trust them for one moment. Will never recommend a Merida to anybody again. Sad to hear about what you heard about Merida, I have ONLY ridden Merida (Carbon, Aluminium, MTB and Road bikes) for the last 7-8 years with not even ONE tiny issue (Bike related)...group sets, wheel set, accessories aside...but maybe I don't have the extra bucks to pay for the more expensive brands out there...as you have mentioned "value for money"... I guess in ANY brand's factory you can have an employee with an "OFF" day and make a mistake...unfortunately the world we live in at the moment... If you don't mind...please send me a PM about what you heard...I would also like to hear what the problem is / was thanx, cheers Ascension

CASSIE1975 Posted May 10, 2018 Share Hi bike hubbers,I urgently need some advice on buying a new bike. As I am a lady of small frame (63kg and 155cm) I want to know your opinionBudget maximum R23 000I have narrowed down my choice of bikes to: Merida Big Seven XT edition 27.5 small frame(Unsure about the Manitou shox and also there is only the red color available which I don't like that much) Trek x caliber 9 29'er small frame(Unsure about the brand, because Trek is not a very known name)Hi bike hubbers, If there is any other suggestions please will you be ao kind to inform me. Thank you, will appreciate it very much Do you mean it is only in red at this specific Bike shop?Have you phoned around?I know the Big 7 XT is also available in BLACK (if that might interest you at all). Waldo de Goede Posted May 10, 2018 Share Hi The 27.5 of the Merida will be my choice. The big 29 inch wheels are sometimes just to much.
