To the bunch of cyclist doing a ride Sunday 8 June on the Baden Powell road between Stellenbosch and the N2.

I just want to say, if one of you were hit by a car it would have been your own fault.

I had to overtake the bunch on the right hand side of the road as you think you are too important to cycle in a single line as you are supposed to do !!!

What a great example you have shown to my kids HOW NOT TO CYCLE ON A BUSY ROAD!!!

If you are talking about where I think then the yellow lane is easily wide enough for 2 abreast.

I

really wonder about the attitude that we are only allowed on the road

if we are able to ensure that the inconvenience to motorists is zero.

Hey bud, we  have as much right to be on the road as any

other vehicle. But it is all about consideration. Don't be

inconsiderate - as a cyclist or a motorist. If you are holding up traffic then ride single file.

Sometimes it is safer to cycle 2 abreast because cars have to wait before they can overtake, but when you cycle single file cars try and push through, often knocking cyclists down.

This is why people hate cyclists! its just a few people who mess it up for the rest!

Ja maybe...

Or maybe it's cause we wear Lycra and they are just to fat

& fugly to wear Lycra and are jealous.

Or maybe they are just jealous of our very expensive toys?

Or maybe it's

just that everyone is so fugging uptight on our roads that they ...

.... I

give up.

What sort of asshole posts like this? Looked in the mirror lately? You might not approve of her post, but you have no right to call her an asshole.

cars own the road monday to friday.... cyclist sat and sunday... What you been smoking? Next you will have a problem with all the cyclists that cycle in the week.

where is your patience? riding in single file is NO fun anyways

read rules of the road.... pedestrians have right over cyclists, cyclists over cars cars over lorries.... if that's the case, would like to walk in front of your car at 5 km/h and see how you feel, when you've got somewhere you have to be.

Everyone's got an opinion on the safest way to ride. Some say single file on the edge of the road, others say 500 cm into the road to be visible etc. Whatever works for you is fine, but we can all SHARE the road. You don't have to hold up the traffic. To be honest, if I see a cyclist is trying his best to let me through, I show patience and only proceed to do so when it's safe for both of us. If he/they are being idiots and act as if I'm not there, why should I respect them? You get the courtesy you give.

Now that I have re-read your post, you said it better than I could. Consideration is key

Funny thing, none of them ride in the yellow line... and covered the whole left side off the road...

I also cycles on that road and try my best to stay clear of traffic. So, why go and look for trouble instead of just stick to the law - cycling in single file...
