Thanks to all the guys that offered help today with my Rear Deraileur malfunction, then the 3 snapped chains as a result of singlespeeding it. Louis for your chain breaker & quicklinks & CP (Cederberg 100 miler shirt) for loaning me your Chain breaker if you are on here make contact & I can get it back to you. And the 2 other guys that offered quicklinks which I couldn’t use, because the one was 9spd & the other was 12spd on my 10spd chain.

You really had a challenging day on (or rather off the bike). This race might be the one with the most chain links being left behind on the route compared to any other race.

I did it last year on a gravel bike with 35mm tyres. Hands took a hammering on the jeep track on the way but totally worth it if you have practiced with jeep track and the gravel bike.

So the change from June to October made this a totally different race, doubt you would have had as much fun with a gravel bike..

They should move it back to June so that those big sandy patches will not be so difficult for the gravel bikes ????

it was tough, I can’t believe how many of the backmarkers that we’re really suffering declined my offer, where I ride their bikes for them while they sit on mine & I will merrily push them home. Win win for everyone. One lady even commented how I was hiking a bike faster than she was riding.
