I left Colesburg before Lunch.

I got to Philippolis around 14h00.

Had a good few hours sleep, left Philippolis around 23h00.

Now just outside Trompsburg.

On my way to Bloemfontein.

How busy is the highway? Trucks during the day are even a nightmare, night must be crazy.

 

Far from being a nightmare the tucks on the N1 are usually the most polite and safest road users.

Far from being a nightmare the tucks on the N1 are usually the most polite and safest road users. 

 

Nothing against truck drivers - I reserve my road rage hate specially for buses and taxis in Joburg. 

 

My point was meant to address the shear amount of air that trucks move when they pass you. As far as I remember the N1 has a decent amount of shoulder, but it must still be pretty disconcerting having that rush of wind come past you, especially on tired legs and mind with these crazy hours David is putting in... AND at night!
