cdewet Posted November 12, 2018 Share Hi all. I need help please. I took my son's fork off his Merida Big Nine 300 to clean and service. I somehow now got the assembly sequence wrong on the air/spring side. Can anyone help with a schematic and also oil type and quantity? Thanks. hansolo Posted November 13, 2018 Share Hi. The searches I do all seem to say the bike has a SR Suntour XCR fork... They have some manuals etc. on their website. http://www.srsuntour-cycling.com/service/download-area/consumer-downloads/bike/exploded-views/ http://www.srsuntour-cycling.com/service/download-area/consumer-downloads/bike/owners-manuals/ Hope it helps and good luck. cdewet Posted November 13, 2018 Share Hi hansolo,Thanks for the feedback. It is definitely a RST. I found the same info you did when searching the web.I have written to RST for help. There is no model number on the shock either. Hi. The searches I do all seem to say the bike has a SR Suntour XCR fork... David Marshall Posted November 13, 2018 Share Hi David,Thanks a lot. I will appreciate it if you can share the diagrams. Will you by any chance have an idea of how much oil to put in?RegardsI have three versions which I will pm to you. As for the oil level I have attached one diagram where I have circled the compression damper. You want to pour oil into the damper, cover the top with your hand and cycle it to bleed excess air and then fill up with enough oil to cover the circled part - so that the oil level is 1-2 cm above it. David Marshall Posted November 15, 2018 Share I am an expert on BB creaks - start at the headset and work your way to the rear skewer - don't miss anything in between! Wannabe
cdewet Posted November 20, 2018 Share Special thanks to David Marshall for his assistance on this.I received a very positive and helpful response from a chap at RST, posted below. I'm certain this will assist some other poor fellow out there in a similar situation I was in. From RST:thank you very much for your email – indeed a suspension fork is requiring (at minimum) an annual service turn in order to keep its performance and even to stay intact (in regards of air & oil leaks). What you are having is a F1RST 29 Air fork with slightly cheaper bushings that are requiring some high quality lubes and greases in order to offer a proper function. Damping system – you will need SAE 5W fork oil, 135ml / cc. Air system /& lower / bushing service – you will need a high queslity suspension fork grease (RST is using and advising to use “SLICK HONEY” like in our offered RST AM grease tube à 50g: “H5GACB182” (Judy Butter from SRAM is the same grease, only in blue colour // MANITOU Prep grease, DT fork grease, all those are made by the US company (making SLICK HONEY). Clean the fork with rag free cloth and don’t use sharp cleaners / Isopronanol does a good job though. Please see the attached manuals & videos for servicing the fork: OCR Maintenance Video: http://rstsuspension.com/en/tech-support/111-ocr-maintenanceAir Maintenance Video: http://rstsuspension.com/en/tech-support/110-air-fork-general-maintenance Have a great evening and hope you can fix that fork JCheers.******************Added were these schematics: Explosion drawing F1RST 29 M RL RevA.PDFAIR ASSEMBLY MAINTENANCE MANUAL.PDF
