  1. Items arrived and delivered to my work by a courier. Using them in the back of a bakkie, my previous mounts was higher from the baseplate than these and they have more axle adaptors. Quite a bit cheaper than Holdfast and if it can work for you it might be an option.
  2. I bought some of these brackets off Temu, way cheaper than Holdfast and decent quality. https://share.temu.com/HAeFwInTRFA
  3. I also recently got a 50% offer from WeBuyCycles and just politely declined their offer... Maybe Ivan onto something and hoping/wishing he gets a 50% offer on his Vipa and Top Fuel.
  4. Correction... Man hours paid for by volunteers... First Time Volunteers pays R 3800 for their time and Return Volunteers pays R 1000 but they get the following: Tented accommodation in the Absa Cape Epic rider village Breakfast and dinner in the race village with the riders Daily Woolworths lunch pack (except Prologue and Grand Finale) Volunteer T-shirt Complimentary Grand Finale Picnic Lunch Voucher Transport between stages (if required) Ticket to the Around the World Party (Friday before Rider Registration) Reserved entry for the following year's race
  5. Very true, those R295k bikes aren't really aimed at "average Joe's" and no one is forcing you to buy them. We all like nice stuff (I hope), even the more affordable bikes are damn good these days and the fact that there exits expensive bikes out there doesn't detract from your I do doubt that these type of debates is happening is PrivateYacht Hub, SuperCar Hub or PrivateJet Hub but I won't be joining those anytime soon.
  6. New Evo looks amazing and very similar to the Top Fuel I bought last year with a 130mm fork at a "reasonable" price. Nice to see bike companies put in solid Engineering in newer bikes and how each generation gets better.

  8. Sounds like a difficult predicament. I see you can rent 3 bike racks and even a trailer with allowance for 4 bikes but you might need to confirm/request that your rental vehicle has a towbar fitted. 9. Loving how we are going round in circles "inventing" new stuff to end up basically where we started... Pretty soon SRAM will be touting new "less powerfull" brakes to make you go faster or a new standard to mount these stronger brakes to your bike. Hoping I don't sound like a Luddite but I really think we could do with better lower end components for the masses rather than just making more and more expensive components.
  10. Really nice bikes, just a pity they don't have Shimano drivetrains... Lower end (SLX and Deore) Shimano just feels like its miles ahead in quality to SX and NX.
  11. Looks like "Comments on Bikeshops" will be going the way of "Comments on Adverts" soon if this trend continues... Just be "lekker"!
  12. Respect, looks like a tough day out! On another topic, these event names are getting a bit out of hand... I feel sorry for the commentators having to say "Momentum Medical Scheme Attakwas Extreme, presented by Biogen" so many times in a day.
  13. We have X1 at work, really impressed!
  14. Maybe pop into one of the bike shops to ask or have a look at the Hillbillies Facebook page (https://web.facebook.com/groups/306675262861845).
  15. Hi. You can perhaps try Mentis for Nylon (https://www.mentis3d.com/) or Craftcloud (https://craftcloud3d.com/) if you want something more "exotic".
  16. Hi Have a look at Trek, they specify quite generous weight limits on their bikes... This is the weight limit on Roscoe. All of the best and hope you get results.
  17. I agree, they are amazing bikes just a pity “normal” folks might never get to experience them. Your price is not “excessive” given US pricing…
  18. Looks like EvoBikes is now selling Yeti frames. Really nice bikes but flip >R90k for a frame! You could buy a full XT Trek on their sale for less than that. Makes the "auction frames" look like a steal.
  19. It looks like Bike Addict also has WTB Rangers in 650Bx2.8 WTB Ranger MTB Tyres – Bike Addict (bike-addict.co.za)
  20. Haha, the one is closer to a unicycle than an actual bicycle... How much would a swingarm and/or Switch Infinity cost?
  21. Couldn't agree more! I once engaged with someone just assuming a bike without any stickers was a Rocky Mountain. What do I get for my "help", this... "In the future when you share your opinion on a bike, please make sure you have some facts." Coming from the guy that had no idea what bike he was selling this was bold. In future I'll just report ads as fraudulent and be on my merry way. Another lesson learnt, don't comment on pricing, what you are willing to pay is not always "market value" as seen by the seller or some clueless insurance broker...
  22. Not a Rocky Mountain? 🤥 Good to see you are sharing your opinion on a bike and have some of the facts....
  23. I know this is a thread for "amateur" 3D printing but it might be worth considering getting a print done. We use Mentis (Home - Mentis3D) for work, parts printed with nylon looks better and feels way stronger. It looks like they also have a metal printer now. Process is usually very easy, you simply upload your STL's, pay with credit card and they deliver quick. Sorry if someone has mentioned them previously.
