AtoomDemoon Posted December 13, 2018 Share Good day, A rather awkward fall with my bike resulted in one of the bottle cage mounting holes to break. Basically the threading came out and cant be put back. The frame itself is carbon and there is no other damage like cracks so the frame is good. I dont want to do a carbon repair as it would take a while a cost a few bucks. Is there a way to mount the cage again by plugging the hole in a way that would make the cage sit stable when removing and placing a bottle. David Marshall Posted December 13, 2018 Share The rivnuts come with a small or large flange. If the hole is damaged you can either use a large flanged rivnut or if necessary go one size bigger. There was a thread on fitting these which covered the options. Another solution is to patch the damaged hole with epoxy adhesive and re drill the hole the size of the rivnut. Saw the revnut advice once but was unsure if it was good for carbon frames. @m-squared I am from Pretoria. @cippo I checked and I am very lucky that only that one hole has damage and no other cracks or frame damage to be found.
