Few things worth checking :

- does the unit "flip forward", allowing you to open the boot\hatch ?

- can the unit be locked to the towball ?

- can the bikes be locked onto the rack (without resorting to using a chain) ?

- do the "trailer lights" work ?

Make no mistake, bikes should not be left unattended on any bike rack .... but at least if you can show a broken locking mechanism your insurance should pay out ....

Will your insurance company cover buzzrack ?

I know that my insurance will cover my Thule - as it can be locked onto the towball.

Same way as the bike will be covered if stolen, as the Thule can lock .... HOWEVER, you need to show damage where the lock was forcibly opened to remove the bike .....

Thus Molaher03 should actully check TWO things :

- can this rack lock ...

- will his insurance accept that as acceptable .....

as a "bike transport" ... sure the rack should do the job as well as most other brands ... but at some point you need to stop and leave the bikes on the back .... so checking the insurance\safety side of things really are very important.

BUT - for us the rack MUST be able to tip away with the bikes on, in order to get access to the boot ..... not all bike racks can do this .... please dont buy something that will hamper you in the long run ...

Another cool thing about Thule is and dont laugh.

If you locked the bikes and traveled 625km to your holiday destination and lost your keys (fell out my pocket) . You can go to a Thule dealer an give them the key number and you can buy a new key for less than R100.

Hi thank you for the advice. The unit does lock onto the ball and does tilt as well. there is also a fitting by which the bikes lock onto the rack.

So the only thing i need to find it( and this will probably only happen in the new year) is whether the insurance covers it.

Let me try and get the specs and post it here
