My wife has Hashimotos since childhood although only diagnosed in the last 10 years. As long as she keeps her med levels steady she is fine. She has a Freedom Challenge, a couple of 1000 Milers and numerous other events under her belt so it is not insurmountable at all. If her levels drop she battles with energy.

I got Graves disease about 15 years ago, caused hyperthyroidism. It was pretty scary as it caused severe heart anginas/pulpitations. Lost almost 10kg's in 6 weeks.

Thyroid was removed (via Radioiodine). Took a few months to recover fully but all is well now. Just need to take Eltroxin daily.

Not personal experience, but a good mate of mine was diagnosed with Grave's, and was scheduled for the radiation treatment, and the week before, further testing showed it'd vanished - no symptoms or anything.

On the Hashimoto's, there is good evidence that a ketogenic diet is beneficial - that'd need you to subscribe to that way of thinking, but food trumps meds in my view.

But good luck Zatek. Do whatever it takes to keep you on the bike
