Cracked Edge 520 Screen

Over the weekend I dropped my Garmin Edge 520 onto a tiled floor, face down, and I now have a crack across the screen.

The device still works normally, and I used it without incident in a race yesterday.

My concern (apart from the cosmetic issue) is that the device may no longer be water resistant if I had to use it in wet weather, or even humid weather here in Durban.

Any suggestions as to what I should do about it? I thought I should take it to Garmin, but I no longer know whether there is still a Garmin repair outlet in Durban anymore. Can anyone enlighten me?

The way I see it if you take it to Garmin they will tell you they can't fix it but will offer you a replacement unit at cost (assuming your unit is not under warranty anymore).

If you keep using it until it breaks from water damage it the same procedure, replacement at cost.

So I would say if the crack doesn't bother you keep on using it until you are forced to replace it.
