  1. Hi Leslie, I cut a piece of hardboard to fit inside the caravan passage and then bolted some rooftop bike anchors onto the hardboard.
  2. The start times in this document do not correspond to the WhatsApp and email messages I have received regarding my start time. The communications state that my start batch is Q at 7:50am, but according to this document batch Q starts at 7:35am. Which is it?
  3. Methinks we might drive the gravel road and then park at the tar road and ride from there...
  4. We are camping at the Van Zylsrus Caravan Park at Kuilsriver from Monday to Thursday, so a short visit. Margaret and I hope to squeeze a few rides in the mornings, nothing too hectic though.
  5. Great, thanks for this. The access road to River Destiny is 5km of gravel - will that be sufficiently compacted for our road bikes?
  6. We are doing a road trip from Durban to Cape Town with our caravan, and taking our road bikes with so that we can do some cycling while we are in Cape Town. We will be leaving on Saturday morning, and camping overnight at River Destiny Campsite, on the banks of the Orange River, in the Gariep Dam area. After a full day driving, it will be nice to get on our bikes and stretch the legs a bit, and explore the area at the same time. Any suggestions on routes to follow, bearing in mind we have road bikes?
  7. I used a GoPro Hero with a 64GB sd card, connected to a battery pack.
  8. It was a tough route with lots of climbing, lots of wind and occasional rain!
  9. As a matter of interest, what are you using now?
  10. Now that you mention that, I recall that it was reconnecting to my cadence sensor a few times. I cannot remember whether it was before or after the restart though.
  11. Yesterday I rode in the Amashova (lots of wind and rain), using my new Garmin Edge 530 to record my race. Along the way, without any warning, the Garmin decided to shut down and then restarted. It got to the screen where it prompts you to save the ride, but I simply pressed the ride button at the bottom right of the Garmin, and it continued recording as though nothing happened, and nothing was lost except for the minute it took to restart. I am on the latest firmware. Anyone else had this experience?
  12. My 6th Tour. I started in 3A at 7.04am, based on my CTCT 2020 time of 3hr 43min, but I certainly did not deserve to be in such an early batch, as my fitness level had dropped quite a bit since then, and I had put on a few extra kg's! I aimed for a modest 4hr 30min, and achieved 4hr 19min, so I was happy in the circumstances. The weather conditions were perfect, and the crowd support was fantastic, in spite of the pandemic.
  13. Pleasure. Here's the video of my ride, with the Garmin telemetry overlay.
  14. Here's a link to mine from last year: http://gofile.me/6Q6R7/FCQz473KX
  15. Every year, on the morning before the race, there are hundreds of cyclists doing a chilled ride from Granger Bay to the the top of Suikerbossie and back. Our club, East Coast Cycling, meets at the Wimpy parking lot in Granger Bay and wheels roll at 7am. See you there! https://www.strava.com/activities/3160732323
  16. Apparently Govt have not gazetted the new 500 limit on sporting events (still 250) and now only a month to go so they can’t take a chance as they have 430 entries already. They are making a formal announcement tomorrow.
  17. A little bird has just told me that the race has been postponed to 24 October.
  18. I'm surprised there has not yet been any discussion about the upcoming Boland 100 Miler on 18 April. Anyone doing it? The route looks amazing, although quite daunting, with most of the 2000m climbing after the 100km mark. Although I have not yet committed to ride it, I have entered in order to secure my entry, as there is a 450 rider limit.
