Nighttime riding and sleep patterns

Has anyone done any basic correlation between nighttime riding and sleep patterns?

Context: recently got a celebratory Fenix 5 that checks not just sleep duration but also sleep cycles (light, deep, REM), and I've done a few rides (1.5-3hrs) to about 8-9pm and my sleep that night has the appropriate duration, but REM is far less - normally in 8hrs sleep I'll get 2.5hrs REM, but after a late ride it'll be perhaps 30min.

thought this was interesting and potentially significant. any ideas from anyone?

No ideas yet, but that is very interesting.

Have you followed it over a couple of days?

early days yet, but on 6-8hrs regular sleep, REM is usually ~30%. After a late bike ride, it's 20-30min in 6-8hrs.

Trouble is that I battle like hell to ride early mornings, and evenings work far better logistically. but loathe to KO sleep which is so important to me
