Mornings Folks....a short THANK YOU and respects to the many helpful hints and tips re my little rattling problem...

I acquired a TREK EX 5 2011(I think) Its got the original front fork and the original rear Fox shock...I think it came with Avid Juicy 3 brakes...Im told the Mavic 26" inch trail rims are bomb proof and thats where the original stops I think...It had been converted to a 1x11 also a dropper post(which is THE BEST piece of kit on this bike) and the frame has been resprayed a matt black with light bright blue TREK decals...Soo..all in all Im very chuffed with this little bike ..really suits my needs...at the start I just rode...absolutely BEAUT compared to what I had...then the brakes started feeling funny...a local chap here , aho I might add is BRILLIANT ...sorted them out for me and R600.00 later I was on my way , since then Ive learnt how to do this myself,,,it has a KCNC 60mm stem and a Crane Creek headset...when it came back from the brakes the chap said he adjusted my headset/steering as it was too tight...

Now ENTERS the noise...first ride after that I noticed a squeak from under the saddle and quickly diagnose that its the rear shock pivots and a few squirst of lube sorted that out...THEN the unholy rattle from the front area started on the next ride and I sprayed lube...next ride ...louder than ever...

Sent a whattsapp to my chommas on an ole army group and I knew there were a few MTBers there and the advice came in amongst all the jibes..hehe...I then spent awhile scrolling through this section of BikeHub and boy oh boy I was NOT alone in this MTB creaking/noise quagmire ....I found numerous threads with common advice popping up and common problems popping up...some said this others said NO ..do that...well ..I took the common advice posts and tallied them up and made actual notes...there are numerous well qualified and experienced members here , too many to mention , you know who you are ...SALUTE!!

Coz with this noise I was seeing dollars out the window again....

I went through and followed the processes discussed and HEY PRESTO!!..hold your thumbs ...NOISE/RATTLE gone....

Soo..once again MANY MANY THANKS...a most helpful and in expensive forum and of course I have now more understanding ...

Take a BOW Folks!!!

Not sure if I'm one of the "experienced members" mentioned (probably not  :D) but I will take a bow none the less  :whistling:. Glad the noise got sorted and did not cost you too much! The most value from your quest to relieve yourself of the constant noise must be the experience you've picked up to DIY - all the best
