I am super frustrated, can’t make up my mind. Both 2019 models cost R80k. Scalpel has a X01 rear derailleur, the rest is mostly the same spec. Can’t seem to get my head around what to go for.

Why don't you take them for a test ride and then decide for yourself? I wouldn't want to spend 80K based on an opinion from someone on social media. That said you probably can't go wrong either way.

But as mentioned above, one you need to make. Only you know all the specifics and are paying the $$$

Your gut has probably already told you - just listen to it. In this price class, you can't really go wrong. Assumption: you have done decent test rides on both models
