Hi everyone,

I am looking to upgrade from my 2012 26er HT with coil fork to a 29er HT with an air fork.

I can get a new Momsen AL329 2018 spec at my LBS for R12 000 with tubeless conversion done.

The bike looks good and solid to me, I am just not clued up on all the components.

Do you think the specs are good for the price?

Thanks for your help!

I am basically in the same position than you, still have a 26er and looking for a 29er in the same price range. There are some really good value in the Merida Big Nine range imo.

I have just gone through this process and I can highly reccomend the second hand route. I also was looking new based on new components and warrantee etc but then I found a fantastic deal on a much better specced 2nd hand bike in mint condition (which would have been double my budget if I bought new) which also left a lot of change in my pocket to pimp out my ride the way I want to. New fancy grips, flats, cockpit setup and a much better helmet than I had.

Sometimes people have the money to buy really nice bikes but then dont have the time to ride them... trawl the classifieds here and gumtree and marketplace and look for a fantastic deal, not every 2nd hand bike is a deal but If you do your homework and know what you looking for you (and have some patience) you can really score.

Thanks for everyones input.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the Momsen and must say it is a HUGE upgrade from my previous bike. Got great service from the bike shop also.
