  1. Just finished watching “the spy” on Netflix with sacha baron cohen and it was flippen brilliant. Excellent story and excellent acting. https://youtu.be/5UijUOy0MmE' class='bbc_url' title='External link' rel='nofollow external'> https://youtu.be/5UijUOy0MmE
  2. These are the best projects to follow! Spray job is looking top notch so far!
  3. We were initially as I had family there willing to sponsor and offer jobs etc but the more I looked into it the more I knew it wasn't for me. Primarily lifestyle driven we have just started the process for New Zealand which is just a much better fit for my family.
  4. Modern day relationship advice: find someone who likes to watch the same shows/movies as you do. They should have a sub-category on tinder for that.
  5. Thank you for this, I needed that... its good to know that other people have gone through this and made it out stronger and better... or at the very least alive. I am working my network and everyone and anyone I know and yes Ive got one or two tiny jobs that at the moment are getting amazing service because I have a lot of time on my hands. Unfortunately they only just about cover my petrol bill at the moment. I will definitely give Linkedin another go but its definitely good to know people who have gone through the struggle of starting a business and can advise what works and what doesnt from personal experience. @SPLAT Structural engineer... Send me a DM and maybe we can help each other out in the future as Im quickly learning its not what you know but who you know that makes a big difference!
  6. Well 2019's so far been a fun ride... Okay so I just got retrenched after 10 years at a firm and being the sole breadwinner and family man, thats a scary place. I guess the writing was on the wall with the economy slamming on brakes which means the building industry slams the brakes even harder and most of my offices jobs getting canned. So instead of calling myself unemployed, I'm going with entrepreneur and setting up my own business. (Ill go back to unemployed if that doesn't work!) So question: The hub is a community of likeminded individuals... is there a place to list services or businesses not necessarily related to cycling? Im am a way over qualified Architect and beyond offering to design your dream pain cave for zwift I don't think the classifieds are the right place. or does anyone have any Ideas how to market ones services/business beyond the usual mediums of social media (facebook/instagram/twitter), Web, network & word of mouth? I tried LinkedIn a while back but the only contacts that ever tried connecting were people trying to sell building products or get work from me? I really would appreciate any input you might have!
  7. Had to go in to SARS on the 12th to update banking details (after completing return already online) ... money finally in the bank on 31st July
  8. Either last night or this this morning in blouberg apparently (dont quote me on this)...“Hiers n vet fokkop!” https://youtu.be/Z3BJm4yA698 Really the last thing you want to have happen to you! I feel for this family.
  9. Its hard to believe that this is in the middle of the city suburbs... feels a world away. Also that I can do it during my lunch hour... a very nice way to break a long tedious day in front of a computer screen.
  10. Im wondering what gives... did my return on the 28th and still no payment from SARS. My bank details changed since last return and I updated them before submitting and SARS hasn't asked for any separate verification. Anybody else in this situation?
  11. Mine shows the same... filed mine on the 28th when it was still the old system. Last year it took 48hrs, this year its a week and still counting.
  12. This is what im most grateful for... and very grateful I am indeed... as most of us know that any encounter with a car has the potential to end really badly. As frustrating as it is I am very happy to be fixing a wheel rather than broken bones.
  13. Okay... not my finest moment or a great way to start the day. So this morning on my commute in to work I got hit by a car. Despite wearing a high-vis jacket and being lit up and following a car around a circle in a dedicated cycle lane, this mornings motorist didnt want to stop entering the circle and hit me from the side/rear trying to squeeze behind the car I was following around the circle. She claimed the sun was in her eyes and didnt see me. Im fine albeit slightly shook up and I did a bike check while she was there and my bike seemed fine at the time as well. So I said its fine in not the happiest tone and we went our ways. Except I now notice my rim is slighly bent and my hub has got some very minor play. This topic is called... Things Ive learnt while Commuting. Today I have learnt that even if you are in shock and everything seems okay. Get the persons details (I did not for which I am an Idiot) because now I have to try and get my rear wheel fixed on the only bike I own and I definitely do not have the budget to do this at the moment . FFS.
  14. As someone who has spent a fair amount of time in the classifieds I never knew comments existed because weirdly enough they dont appear on safari on MacOS... I once sent a classified link to my iPhone and saw a whole bunch of comments and replies I had never seen before. Maybe its the same for other people but clearly certain browsers just dont give an option for comments nor show any. If I want to see any comments I have to send the link to another browser or to my phone to check.
  15. Ive made this mistake too! As much as it was fun pimping out a bike for your kiddo as a holiday project, it certainly was not a cost saving exercise!
  16. Both. Either way they will get laid.
  17. Dropped a mail to Ryder who replied soon after saying they put me onto the warranty department at Omnico. Call 5 mins later from Omnico and all sorted. Credit where credits due... great service.
  18. I saw that when I was looking for the spec of it... I got it at bike addict so I rather decided to mail ryder directly... figured that might be much quicker than trying through BA.
  19. I wonder if any of you know... Many pages back the ryder rear light was recommended on here as a firm favourite of commuters. I got myself one and yes its great. One problem I have noticed and Im wondering if any of you have had similar issues. So it came fully charged and I like to use it until the battery runs out before fully charging it again (in the vague hope of extending battery life). So it eventually runs down so that it only lights up for about 30sec before switching off. Great. Plug it in and let it charge for a couple hours. Its fully charged now but it no longer flashes... the rear light is now just permanently on. I tried pressing the switch to change functions and it just goes to about three settings of brightness and then back to dim but all steady on/static with no flashing/strobe effect at all. Anybody else have this issue... this was my first time charging the thing. https://www.rydercycling.co.za/ryder-products/lights/super-cob-usb-light-detail
