I have tried searching online for an answer but either there is no clear cut answer or my googling skills are lacking.

I want to purchase a racing license but I am not sure which option to choose.

I am 34 years old, which puts me in the 30-34 age category.

I would like to purchase an Elite license, but I know I am currently not on the level to really compete in this category. My aim is to reach this level if possible. If I purchase this license, will I be able to ride in the Vets groups or will this only be possible if I purchase the 30-34 License?

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks in advance.

You fall into the age group in the year that you turn so if you turn 35 before the end of this year you would be in the 35 to 39 bunch.  Not that it makes any difference as most races run in 10 year age groups.  VA in your case.  With a racing licence you can enter a race in a younger group but obviously not an older group.  Get a licence and race with your age group - you will find it competitive and a good way to test your level.

Yip, you must purchase a Vets license. You won't be allowed to enter VA if you've got an elite license.

Rather start in VA than jump straight into Elite, and if you can mix it there you can change your license.
