Buying new is a safer bet in ensuring you get what you want.

A 2014 Methanol would be the design previous to the outgoing 2015 design so it will still have external cabling?

It may be an older bike but it still a bike. I'm just not sure I'd pay R35k for a 6yo MTB irrespective of geometry. BRing that down to the R25K mark and it a viable option.

I had a test ride on a similar model. I liked the handling, its very racey. If you're not looking for a fast handling precise steering bike but rather something more forgiving with a wider range of performance then I'd say rather get something new.

Not sure what your budget is but if <R50k then theres a lot on offer if you're not weight conscious.

Thing is, you need to decide what you want from the bike first. At R35k the Bianchi is a no go from my point of view

Am I thus correct to assume that buying new is better?

in the budget you are shopping you have a great choice of new bikes. It would need to be something really special for me to spend 30k+ on a used bike. Plus just the little peace of mind that if something goes bang you are covered.

Thanks all for your input.

I made up my mind... and I am not buying a Momsen now, nor the 2nd hand Bianchi (if anyone are interested, I can share the owner's details).  ^_^

Very nice indeed, just make sure about the warranty.

Full waranty. I will be "1st" owner.

PS: why worried about the warranty? Bad experience with the brand?

Just insure it. Santam all risks. No hassles and if you have a problem with the warranty you have a get out of jail free card

Unfortunately I did, and their Sales Manager basically gave me the biggest ignore of my life.

Luckily with my insurance the frame was paid out.
