Hydraulic hose

I have a set of Magura MT2 brakes I want to fit to my bike, but the hose is too short, obviously I will just shorten the rear hose to the correct length for the front, but will Shimano hose work to replace the rear hose? Will the banjo fitting be the correct size etc?

Also, the olive and barb to shorten the hose for the front, are they universal? Or are there different sizes?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Life is not simple.  Most of the Magura brakes use hose with an ID of 2.3 mm which is the same as the Shimano BH59 hose (the more common BH90 is 2.1mm ID).  The MT2 brakes have two hose specs, ie. for pre and post 2015. I don't have a clue as to the diameters of either.  You will need the Magura fittings so you may as well order hose from them as well.

Thanks David, I also dont have any clue what year model these brakes are, everything I have read about them say that the MT2 did not come with a banjo fitting on the caliper, yet these have, the levers also have what I think is bite point adjustment, which also as far as I have seen is not specced on the MT2, very confused

Phone Reghard at Cutting Edge in Pretoria, he'll be able to help you out.

Either that or Jagwire do hose and fittings for pretty much anything.
