Good afternoon hubbers

I’ve searched for a post of the above and didn’t find anything.

Which one of the above would be the better option for some mountain biking, swimming and to do spinning with?

I would like daily tracking, smart notifications, connect a cadence sensor and have Bluetooth connection to upload to apps in ios. I have an edge 800 on my bike but would prefer a watch out of personal preference.

Forerunner @ R2789

Vivomove hr @ R3289

Thanks in advance.

Hi

Thank you very much. But that is a bit out of my price range.

I have the forerunner 35, mostly just for Vitality. Works great for cycling (Road and Mtb) and running, but it has no swimming mode. It also connects to most bluetooth sensors (Speed, Cadence and HR), but not power. So if you can live without power and swimming, like sending points to vitality, it is great.

From DCRainmaker's article, the Vivomove HR doesn't have GPS, and no Connected GPS either.

So, for most activities I think the Forerunner 35 is the better option. Not designed for swimming though, but it is waterproof.

If in doubt, google. IMO looking at this the Forerunner comes out tops.

I have the Forerunner 30 which is model below and really happy with it, OK maybe not all the time as it keeps telling me to "MOVE" when it picks up I've been inactive. The "Find my Phone" option has helped me on many occasions though.

Are you able to turn that alerts off?

You can buy the Vivoactive 3 from Amazon in the UK, landed in South Africa for under R3k.

The new Forerunner 45S can be had for a similar price:

Any chance you will want to do a triathlon?  Then you may want to consider the Suunto Spartan Trainer.

Thank you very much. I think the way to go will be the suunto. Will a garmin ant cadence sensor pair on it?

Suunto is Bluetooth-only, I believe
