scotty Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 If the poll is a represenation of the broader cycling community then the race is going to be a whole lot safer due to lesser numbers, but faster.
Bateleur1 Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 We need one more option in the poll. Yes, but think it is too expensive
PeterM Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 What is the 94,7 like - as a ride. I am from CPT, is it worth coming up to JHB for the 94,7? For which type of riders is it a great race? Where in JHB is it?
The Saint Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Peter it is a great race and probably worth comming up for as the vallies go down for the Argus - As with the Argus you must do at least one 94.7.....in a nutshell the race goes through the city center then to some of the outlying areas......it is undulating with hardly any flat sections

Zoo Cookie Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 yip, very expensive. but, i will do it. better seeding hopefully = better time. i hope.
Fulmenicilus Posted July 10, 2008 Author Posted July 10, 2008 I've made up my mind! Will be doing it one last time! Entry fees paid - still with a heavy hart

slowgo Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 I agree - the infrastructure or setup there is not great - rather stay in Cape Town
Rogz Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Kind of agree with a lot of whats been said ... its getting too expensive. Have already entered, but will probably think twice next year. Its not that its not affordable, but is it worth it? If I didnt live fairly close, I doubt I'd make the effort ... somehow its just not that special anymore...

Mielies Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Okay, changed my mind... Entered and going to my first 94.7, but only because I got a free ride!
Grogs Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 I do agree that it's getting a bit pricey, but have entered nonetheless. Sounds like there will be a bit of a drop off in numbers this year, but hey - that's the influence of price on demand. Hopefully the organisers will notice the drop in numbers and realise that they can't raise the entry fee any more (and not selectively ascibe the drop to less roadies and more mountainbikers generally). I must say that I have enjoyed every single one of my seven 94.7s immensely, so I think it's still worth it. I do hope the beer tent doesn't run out of beer before 12 pm like it did last year ...
