Knysna MTB Tyres

What sizes and types of MTB tyres do you recommend for Knysna?

I tried out the new Maxxis MONORAIL at the recent Delvera 9-5 8hour race, in conditions similar to what I remember from my last Knysna race (circa 2006) and was highly impresses with their handling, especially in all the single track sections.

 

(I ran the 2.1 LUST version)

But I thaught those were only for people of over 6feet tall & oaks we only start warming up about 8hours into a ride.....

2.3 front / 2.2 back. Anything with knoppies / Tubeless or Stans converted.

Warming up? Bloody hell, I arrived pretty bloody "warm" to begin with! I was in no condition to be riding a bike!

Tubeless Kenda Karma's 1.95 front and back, I used them at the Sani2Sea and they worked 100% (dropped the pressure to below 30psi thought.

If the last few weeks in the Cape are anything to go by, you can expect wet conditions!!! So just ensure the knobs are spaced wide enough apart to shed the mud.
