He worked at SAB for about 30 years and then started up the brewery at Rawdons. At one stage he was rated as one of the world's best beer testers (tough job ). You could give him a beer from anywhere in the country and he would be able to tell you at which brewery it was brewed purely by tasting it! This thread is bringing back lots of memories for me. My first ever cycle race was at Groenkloof only a week after I bought my first bike. The race also marked the official opening of Groenkloof. It looked very different in those days. The entire area was one big forest and there weren't any animals. They have done a tremendous amount of work to return the area to its former habitat and it will always be one of my favourite places to ride.
