Most riders will ride the best that they can afford and if Raleigh is all you can afford you will defend your choice till the end.At the end of the day most riders would like to ride something that the pros are riding or a bike that the guys in the Tour are riding. No one cares about what bike the locals have won on,they look at what the pros are winning on

I've had 2 raleighs and a specialized road bike, I prefer my specialized over the other bikes I've had but it has also cost more.

I believe its the legs that make the biggest difference yet am pretty sure a 35k bike does give you an advantage over someone with a 10k bike.

No one ever passes me on a bike...Evil%20Smile

Now thinking of it ... I would not mind dying on my bike .... at the age of 80, killed by a jealous husband smiley36.gif

Hi

Firstly let me say I have been living in London for 8 years now and something I have been noticing since joining this forum is that Raleigh in South Africa seems to be like Trek over here.

I have seen some threads on The Hub stating that in SA it's not 'cool' or what have you to ride a Trek but one thing that is the complete opposite is that Raleigh in the UK as far as my experience goes appeals only to the kids and grannies and novices who want to ride twice a month in the park. Any half serious cyclist goes for the likes of Klein' date=' Trek, Specialized, Cannondale, Gary Fisher, Giant, Scott, Yeti...

I'm interested to see what peoples' opinions of Raleigh are. Obviously they're highly rated bikes in SA which as I say is the opposite to England. Here Trek is really big and as I said, no half serious cyclist - mountain biker or roadie would be seen dead on a Raleigh. Is Raleigh in England the Same company as it is in SA? It must be I think but the SA Raleigh bikes obviously seem so much better. Maybe it's just the whole demand and supply thing...

If everything goes according to plan Probike will own Raleigh UK in the future, then you will be able to get the same high quality Raleighs on the mud island as we get here.

If Raleigh was so good Probike would not have taken on Scott and relligated Raleigh to the hypermarkets

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Not everybody can justify or has the desire to go out and spend R20-80,000 on a bike.

I think I saw a photo of someones bike could of been scotty which he said was a R500 special from the Hyper which he did his first Argus on.

It is just a bike after all.

Someone posts a pic of a CKT comment comes back Giant. Are you less of a man if you ride a Raleigh. It would be interesting to see if they keep stats on how many bikes of a particular brand finished the Argus. The way that the Comrades used to keep tabs on shoe brands finishing/competing.
