it seems that we will not be able to watch the Tour though as it's not listed as one of the races for South African viewing...

Which is why the need for a VPN.

The VPN basically allows you to pretend to be from a different country (e.g. UK) and will therefore enable "local" content linked to your new country.

I went with NordVPN based on a number of good reviews.

I might give Express VPN before November (Black Friday) as my renewal for NordVPN is due next week.

Edit:

Price (monthly cost for 12 month deal):

$4.08 NordVPN

$8.32 ExpressVPN

$11.95 month to month

$12.95 month to month

A friend is currently using unblock-us

https://www.unblock-us.com/

At $4.99pm it's an interesting option.

Have you heard anything about it?

(Friend is using it to stream BBC content over an ADSL line with no apparent sluggishness)

All my streaming is at 720p, which is good enough for me. That’s with up to 4 devices connected at the same time, on a 10Mbps line.

why not just use the VPN in Opera?

Don’t think that will work with the GCN app, the iPlayer app and Eurosport app as it’s only really effective at the browser layer isn’t it.
